The Ordinance on Promotion of self support and community support in the Event of a Disaster in Yokohama City was enacted in 2013 with the aim of promoting voluntary disaster prevention activities among citizens and businesses and contributing to the realization of the reduce disaster damage Society.
In recent years, natural disasters have become more severe due to the effects of climate change, and damage has occurred frequently in various places. The ordinance has been revised to further promote the efforts of self support and community support, without weathering the lessons learned from Great East Japan Earthquake and adapting to the changing times.

Major revised points

Definition of "town disaster prevention organization"
 Condominium Residential Association is clearly specified because disaster prevention activities are being carried out by condominiums.
Enhance measures assuming wind and flood damage
