What is Yokohama Disaster Risk Reduction Learning Center?

Yokohama Disaster Risk Reduction Learning Center is the only experiential learning facility in Yokohama, where citizens can learn about the importance of self support and community support by experiencing a variety of content, including earthquake shaking, evacuation from initial-stage fire-fighting techniques., smoke, and simulated disasters. Every year, many people visit Neighborhood Association, elementary schools, and corporate employee training programs to experience content and hold large-scale disaster prevention events several times a year.

In the event of a large-scale disaster, the temporary evacuation site integrated with the adjacent Sawando Central Park will serve as an emergency relief base for survivors.
In addition, it has been designated as a temporary accommodation facility in people unable to return home at Yokohama Station. In addition to temporarily accepting residents staying around the station, we also store water and blankets distributed at that time.

It is the activity base of the "Yokohama City Fire Music Band", which conducts a wide range of public relations activities through performances and acting activities centered on the city.
