PRTR

The PRTR (Pollutant Release and Transfer Register) is a chemical substance emission transfer notification system that collects, aggregates, and publishes data on whether a wide variety of harmful chemical substances were discharged from what sources, how much they were discharged into the environment, or included in waste. There are 462 chemical substances covered.
The PRTR system was institutionalized in accordance with the Act on Understanding the Emission of Specific Chemical Substances into the Environment and Promotion of Improvement of Management (Chemical Control Law) (external site).
The PRTR system has made it possible for citizens and governments to obtain more detailed information on chemical substance emissions. As a result, the opportunities for citizens to actively participate in efforts to address the chemical substance problem, which had to be left to the government and businesses, have been expanded.
Using PRTR data, it is expected that citizens, businesses, governments, etc. will cooperate with each other to promote chemical substance countermeasures while discussing the current status of chemical substance emissions, the contents of countermeasures, and the progress. Will be
