Urban Development

In order to solve the various urban issues faced by Yokohama City, we have been promoting urban development that takes advantage of comprehensive and regional characteristics.
In the coastal area, port facilities were relocated to respond to the size and modernization of ships, and operations, commerce, cultural facilities, etc. were integrated in a complex manner using the former site to revitalize the economy and become independent in Yokohama. For the purpose of strengthening the independence and taking on the function of the capital together with Tokyo, we conducted a town development project in the Minato Mirai 21 district. In addition, as a result of promoting harmony with nature, consideration for urban design, and complex development aimed at proximity to work and residence, a unique region that became a model of the world, such as Kohoku New Town and Kanazawa Industries, was born.
