Introducing the "Playroom" renewed this fall in more detail!
Renewed playroom
The playroom introduced in the "Public Relations Yokohama December Issue". We asked Mr. Takahashi, the director of the museum, about the renewal.
"The renewed playroom has a picture book corner inspired by Yokohama produced by a picture book writer "Jun Ichihara" related to Yokohama City, the creator of "Moimoi", a picture book with the topic of "Baby stops crying". It is a space that makes you feel fun as if you were in a picture book. In addition, we have newly prepared educational toys that can be enjoyed by children aged 0 to 2 years.
The color of the playroom was decided by the children of the nursery school in the city to vote and imagine a "pop and fun space". We also hold a "Child Care Support Association" on a regular basis, and we would like to make it a place for various information transmission to parents. "
We talked to parents using the playroom.
― How is the playroom used?
"Convenient as a playground where you can easily go."
"I use it when I can't play outside, such as on rainy days."
― Impression of renewal
"A friendly environment where children are happy and happy with the renewal"
"It's fun like a secret base."
"There are many picture books and educational toys that I don't have at home."
― Renewal of cushions, chairs, mats, etc.
"It's safe to have a mat that doesn't slip when running."
"It's very soft and safe even if children are playing."
We received various opinions, but many voices gathered that soft mats that could be enjoyed regardless of the weather because they were fully air-conditioned, and that were hard to get injured even if they fell.
■Various educational toys that promote the growth of children
We collected toys that help children develop their own "awareness", "thinking", and "the ability to create".
For toys, all toys targeting children aged 0 to 3 meet safety standards (ST mark and CE mark).
■Prepare more than 120 picture books for infants selected by the librarian.
We have selected classic picture books that have been read for a long time from those listed in the picture book list "Picture Books to Enjoy on the knees" and "Picture Books to Enjoy Together at Home" published by City Library Yokohama.
It is also a place for information gathering and information exchange!
And since many children and parents of the same generation come to play in the playroom, it is also a place where you can talk about various things about raising children and increase the number of acquaintances. The circle of fathers and mothers was spreading near the happy smiles of the children.
In addition to exchanging information between parents, there is a "Child care information corner" in the playroom, so you can try to summarize the latest child care information. On the day, some people said that they could collect various information, which would be helpful.
A popular gymnasium for a wide range of generations!
The "gymnasium" has many users at the Kanazawa District Center. There are applications for reservations almost every day, and a wide range of generations use it from morning to night.
It has one basket court, the same size as a junior high school gymnasium, and has a training space. On this day, table tennis groups and badminton groups were used half by half.
At the Haruarashi Table Tennis Cherry Association, which is regularly used, an exclusive coach was giving form guidance while watching each person play. Everyone was eager to listen to the coach's guidance and practice the skills they learned repeatedly, playing seriously. The gymnasium is full of everyone's enthusiasm, bright conversations and smiles. I felt that the exhilaration of moving my body and the pleasure of interacting with my friends helped me to do it.
―"Harurashi Table Tennis Cherry Association" We talked to Chairman Iso.
"We also provide health maintenance and rehabilitation, mainly for the elderly, and conduct activities with a degree of freedom according to their physical condition. It is operated for the purpose of interacting with people and enjoying sports, and it is also a place for communication. If you are near you, please join us!"

There is also a cooking room full of cooking utensils!
The "cooking room" has a variety of cooking utensils and dishes such as gas stoves, gas ovens, and food processors, so that you can cook in earnest.
On this day, a student from Yokohama City University had prototyped a menu to open a store at a university festival. Yoshinaga Seminar, Faculty of International Commerce, uses rice balls and side dishes made with local ingredients from Yokohama, and many cooking utensils and equipment are convenient and easy to use. "I'm glad if I could appeal local ingredients because I grew up in Yokohama (laughs)."
Based on the experience of the athletic club, he was studying on the theme of "health through food" with awareness of building a healthy body. On this day, rice balls using local ingredients from Yokohama and hot fried chicken are completed, and it looks very delicious. I hope you will continue to convey the wonderfulness of Yokohama ingredients!

There is also a district center attached to the library!
There are five district centers attached to the library in the city. The Kanazawa Library, which is attached to the Kanazawa District Center, holds a free reading event for children aged 0 to 2 and their parents every month, "One Nidako Storytelling Party". It is an event where you can enjoy children's songs and picture books with small children. On the first floor dedicated to children's books, there are corners that make it easier to pick up books for children, such as "First Time Story" and "Apple Shelf". We also hold regular events such as the picture story show Festival and the Science Workshop.
There are many events that can be enjoyed by the child-rearing generation, so please drop in at the library together with the district center.
※The Kanazawa District Center and Kanazawa Library have a multipurpose toilet where you can change diapers and a nursing room with a private room that can be locked, so parents and children with children can use it with confidence.

We asked Director Takahashi about "Recommendations of Kanazawa District Center".
Director Takahashi, Kanazawa District Center
― Are there any events that are held regularly?
"With the cooperation of Kanazawa Sports Club, we carry out "healthy exercises over 60 years old" on the second and fourth Monday mornings of every month. This course is recommended for those who want to live a healthy life. Even if you are not good at exercising, you can feel free to do so, so please join us."
― Are there any initiatives unique to the Kanazawa District Center?
"We are conducting an event in collaboration with Yokohama City University in the city. Until now, we have asked the hula dance circle of the City University to hold hula dance classes, and held a “easy Japanese cooking class with international students” for international students at City University. Starting from this district center, we hope that new "fun" and "connection" can be made.
In addition, in October, we started issuing “point cards” to registered organizations consisting of university and high school students in the city. Depending on the points collected, the facility can be used free of charge. We support university students and high school students in the city, and we hope that even younger people will use the district center. "
When I interviewed this time, I was able to touch the many smiles of the citizens who use it. . While listening to various voices, we will meet parents and children who use the playroom, students who prototype menus in the cooking room, those who exercise in the gymnasium, and those who are really active for various purposes. I felt that there were a wide variety of ways to enjoy it. In addition, it is a facility that is the center of local communication and creates new encounters and connections.
Please take a look at the "District Center" that snuggles up to your area. There may be a new discovery.
