At Yokohama Port, as an international container strategic port, we are promoting cooperation with each port, mainly in eastern Japan, to maintain and expand core routes, and are working to accumulate cargo at Yokohama Port by coastal containerships.
On June 6, Imoto Shoun Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Kobe City) entered Yokohama Port Minami Honmoku Container Terminal for the first time with a total length of about 142 m and a maximum loading capacity of 1,096 TEU (Note)), which was newly constructed in May 2023.
The vessel will be the largest domestic containership service in Japan, and will enter service on a route connecting Yokohama Port and Tomakomai Port. We hope that the launch of this service will lead to enhanced transport capacity of coastal containers and promote the collection of cargo at Yokohama Port.
(Note) TEU: Number of containers converted at 20 feet
