For about four hours from around 14:30 on January 26, 2022 (Wednesday), there was an accident in which sodium hypochlorite (a chemical used to disinfect tap water), which is about eight times the water quality control value set by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, was discharged into rivers from wastewater treatment facilities in Kosuzume Purifiction Plant.
