Situation of U.S. military facilities in the city

The requisition area in Yokohama by the Allied Forces reached a maximum of 1,200 hectares. In addition, even after the Peace Treaty came into effect in 1952, 112 facilities were provided to the U.S. military.
In 2005, 60 years after the war, Koshiba Oil Storage Facility (53 hectares), part of Yokohama North Dock (2.7 hectares) and the entire Tomioka Warehouse Area (2.9 hectares) in 2009, the 150th anniversary of the opening of Yokohama Port, Fukaya Communications Station (77 hectares) will be returned in 2014, and 2015.
Of these, the government of Japan and the United States agreed in October 2004 to return the Negishi Residential Area (43 hectares), the Ikego Residential Area and the enclave (1 hectare) in the Yokohama city area of Navy auxiliary facilities. .
