About inspection of household goods

What is Household Goods?

 Various types of daily life we use, such as shirts, underwear, socks, hats, bedding and other clothing, household textiles such as curtains and floor rugs, household chemical products such as adhesives, waxes, washing agents, etc. Refers to daily necessities. However, food, toys, food and beverage cleaning agents (because it is regulated by the Food Sanitation Law), pharmaceuticals, quasi-drugs, cosmetics (regulated by laws on ensuring the quality, efficacy and safety of pharmaceuticals, medical devices, etc.) Is not included. Also, it does not include commercial products.

About trial inspection based on law

 Currently, 21 chemical substances are regulated for each target household item by the "Law Concerning the Regulation of Household Goods containing Hazardous Substances" (commonly known as the Household Goods Regulation Law). The Institute of Health conducts inspections of household goods purchased by Health Sanitation Division at retail stores in Yokohama based on the Household Goods Regulation Law.
