What is a pesticide residue?

Pesticides are drugs used to grow crops such as vegetables and fruits for the purpose of controlling and controlling pests and weeds, protecting them from plant pathogens, and improving harvesting efficiency.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries is classified as shown in the table below.
When these pesticides are used, the residual standard value for agricultural products (pesticide content that should not be exceeded) is determined by the Food Sanitation Law. This is said to be a pesticide residue standard.
As of December 2018, the Food Sanitation Law stipulates about 40,000 standards for 647 pesticides for each of the 142 types of agricultural products.

insecticide
  • Drugs used to exterminate insects that harm crops, etc.
  • There are two types of contact agents that act directly in contact with insects, and poison agents that act indirectly by insects eating areas where chemicals are attached.
Sterilizers
  • Drugs used to control the growth of mold, bacteria, viruses, etc. that harm crops.
  • It is used not only as agricultural products but also as a disinfectant for seeds and soil.
Insecticides
  • Drugs used to control insects that harm crops and to control the growth of mold, bacteria, viruses, etc. that harm crops, as well as to control insects that harm crops.
Herbicides
  • Drugs used to control the germination of weeds and citrus trees or to kill them.
  • There are selective herbicides that wither only weeds, and non-selective herbicides that kill all plants. There are two types of action: those that die the area where the drug adheres, and those that are absorbed from roots and stem leaves and die the entire plant.

Killer

  • Drugs used to exterminate animals that harm crops, such as wild rats, rabbits, and moles, and to keep them away from crops.
Plant growth regulators
  • Also known as plant hormones, it refers to drugs that directly affect the physiological function of crops and promote or suppress the growth of crops.
Intractive agent
  • A drug used to collect pests.
Exhibition agent
  • A drug that is used as an auxiliary agent for the used pesticides to sufficiently adhere to the surface of crops and pests and act.
  • It is a combination of synthetic detergents and similar surfactants.
Natural enemy
  • A natural enemy of pests that harm crops.
  • One example is a ladybird against aphids.
Microbial agents
  • A drug used to control pests and diseases that harm crops using microorganisms, or to prevent them from approaching crops.

The Food Sanitation Laboratory inspects about 270 kinds of pesticides.
