Traffic safety on school roads
Last updated on September 13, 2023.
In June 2021, a truck crashed into a row of elementary school student in Yachimata City, Chiba Prefecture, where five people were killed or injured. In response to this accident, the City of Yokohama, Board of Education Secretariat Secretariat and related organizations have been conducting inspections and countermeasures on school routes. Here, we show the number of points that need to be taken during the inspections conducted in FY2021 and the number of points where measures were taken by the end of December 2022.
Number of points required for countermeasures | Number of locations where measures have been taken | |
---|---|---|
Measures required (total number) |
3,758 | 3,499 |
Measures taken by the Board of Education and Schools |
1,980 | 1,891 |
Measures taken by road managers |
1,005 | 859 |
Measures taken by the police | 1,224 | 1,195 |
※Since there are some places where measures are required by multiple related organizations, the total number of countermeasures taken by each organization does not match the “necessary measures (total number)”.
