About the occurrence of customer confinement due to the suspension of the municipal subway Katakuracho Station elevator (published on February 3, 2025)

　At around 10:03 pm on Sunday, February 2, 2025, the elevator stopped at Katakuracho Station (Kanakawa-ku, Yokohama-shi) on the Yokohama Municipal Subway Blue Line, and four customers in the elevator were trapped for about 98 minutes. 　We are pleased to inform you that the cause of the elevator failure has been identified. We will continue to strive to prevent failures through proper maintenance and management of elevators.
1 Cause of failure
　　Due to poor operation of the speed detection device (= encoder).
　　Since the wear powder of the bearing inside the encoder adhered to the internal equipment, the encoder did not work properly.
　　※What is an encoder?
　　　A device that detects the rotation speed and rotation direction of the winding machine and returns it to the control board.
　　　If there is an abnormality in the encoder, the safety circuit of the control board is activated and the elevator stops.
