Elementary and junior high school students participated in reading activities (2024)
Elementary and junior high school students participated in various reading activities in events and school cooperation projects in 2024. . I would like to introduce it.

Junior High School Librarian (July/August)
5 junior high school students participated. I learned about the work of the library, and had a backyard tour, library work experience, and research experience. We also experienced activities to convey the joy of books, such as making book introduction POPs and reading picture books at storytelling parties.
I learned what is important for making POPs.
A POP that conveys the appeal of books has been completed.
Participated in the "Hiroba Storytelling Party" and read a picture book.
While working as a junior high school librarian, I asked what left an impression.
- I was able to hear the story of the person who actually worked as a librarian and had a very valuable experience. I knew what I wanted to know, such as how to get a librarian qualification and what I usually do. It was very interesting.
- The newspaper library at the Kohoku Library had a reduced edition of the newspaper from the Showa era, and when I entered it, the smell of the book was great. When I read my birthday newspaper in the newspaper library, it was very interesting to find the name of the TV program I saw for the first time or unknown news, and to discover an entertainer when I was young.
- I usually only came to the library and borrowed and returned, but through the backyard tour, places where I did not know, places with collection bookshelves, places where old newspapers were placed, etc. I was glad to know something like that. You may not be able to see the "backside" when you go to the library, but I thought it would be nice to convey the charm to others.
- I was glad that there were new discoveries such as the Teens Corner.
Autumn Yokoari-kun Festival (November)
At the "Autumn Yokoari-kun Festival" held at the "Centenial Hall Lobby" on the second floor of the Yokohama Arena, elementary school students of the "Children's Librarian" participated in reading books in 2023. Approximately 40 people, including adults and children, enjoyed picture books.
I told the fun of picture books by reading aloud.
Work experience (January 2025)
Students from Nishikidai Junior High School and Rokukakubashi Junior High School (all schools are located in Kanagawa Ward) had a "work experience" at the Kohoku Library. The introduction POP of the book that was created at that time was posted at the Teens Corner.
Please take a look at the Teens Corner.
The Kohoku Library will continue to create a place for children and teens to share the joy of reading.
