In Yokohama-shi, we devised "Yokohama-shi lifelong learning basics design" in May, 1988 and "the second Yokohama-shi lifelong learning basics design" in November, 1999 and promoted lifelong learning measure However, the social situation surrounding the city and the role played by lifelong learning are also changing.
Therefore, based on having received opinion proposal of basic design revision from the ninth Yokohama-shi lifelong learning promotion meeting in June, 2011, we devise "the third Yokohama-shi lifelong learning basics design".

Through lifelong learning, we will nurture the "power" where each and every citizen can live lively, and create a "Yokohama" where various people can support each other and coexist richly.

1 Nurturing "Chikara"-Nurturing "Chikara" where you can live lively-
By continuing to learn for a lifetime (lifelong learning), we aim to bring up the "power" where each and every citizen can live lively in a society where changes are intensely diversified.

2 Make use of "power"-Use the "power" obtained from learning and experience-
We aim to make use of the "power" acquired through lifelong learning for the community and society.

3 Connecting "Chikara"-Connecting "Chikara" to create a rich area-
By connecting each and every one of the powers, we aim to create greater powers and connect them to the rich community development.
