Tokaido in Yokohama City
Introduction to post town~

The Tokaido, which connects Edo and Kyoto, played a major role in the exchange of people, goods and culture during the Edo period.
In Yokohama City, Kanagawa-juku and Hodogaya-juku were opened in 1601, when the inn station and horse system was established on the Tokaido, and Tozuka-juku were opened in 1604.
Along the old Tokaido that passes through Tsurumi Ward, Kanagawa Ward, Nishi Ward, Hodogaya Ward and Totsuka Ward, there are many historical sites and historical sites such as temples and shrines, milestone and Honjin.

The old Tokaido stretched along the sea, and Kanagawa-juku was just next to Sodegaura, one of the Tokaido's leading scenic spot. For this reason, we stayed not only for travelers but also for sightseeing.

It is a post town located in front of Gontazaka, a steep slope that is said to be the first difficult place after leaving Edo. Therefore, it is said that many travelers took a break at this post office and challenged Sakoshi.
