Confirmation status of "Fire Ant" and "Aka Cami Ant" at Yokohama Port

Basic information on fire ants
Fire ant image
- The place of origin is South America
- The body is shiny and reddish brown. The color of the abdomen is slightly dark.
- It is about 2.5 to 6.0 mm long, and the size of the same worker ants varies.
- There are two bumps on the back.
- If you get stuck with a poisonous needle, you feel severe pain like burns.
- They live in open environments such as bare land and grasslands, and nest in the soil.
Basic information of "Aka Cami Ali"

- The place of origin is from the southern United States of America to Central America.
- It is reddish brown, head is brown
- The head of a large worker ant is square shape
- About 3 to 5 millimeters long
- It has the same type of poison as a fire ant, but the poison is not as strong as a fire ant.
- They live in open environments such as bare land and grasslands, and nest in the soil.
What if you were bitten by "fire ants" or "Aka Cami Ali"?
- If stabbed, it will cause severe pain.
- Rest for about 20 to 30 minutes immediately after being stabbed and pay attention to any changes in your physical condition.
- If symptoms such as dizziness or breathlessness appear, there is a possibility of "anaphylaxis (severe allergic reaction)". Please consult a medical institution immediately, such as requesting an ambulance.
