Q

I was invited to a contractor. Do I need to ask for inspection and cleaning of drainage facilities?

Last updated on April 1, 2024.

A

Drainage facilities (drain pipes, masu, etc.) in residential lands are cleaned and managed at the owner's responsibility, but they are unlikely to be clogged or broken as long as they are used normally.

Drainage outlets in kitchens, washrooms, bathrooms, washing machines, etc. are cleaned frequently, and “Masu” outdoors is opened with lids and clogged garbage and fallen leaves regularly. By doing so, drainage flows smoothly.

In the unlikely event that a problem occurs, please consult with the "Yokohama City Drainage Designated Construction Shop" designated by Yokohama City.

In addition, please note that there is an inspection commercial law that inspects drainage facilities in unnecessary residential lands, charges unreasonable prices, and sells chemicals and equipment.

For sewer construction that Yokohama-shi performs, when the staff of city and contractor ask for inspection and investigation in residential land, we show identification card.
If you feel suspicious, please contact Sewerage and Rivers Bureau Sewer Management Division (telephone 671-2830) or Public Works Office (outside site) in each ward.

In addition, "Yokohama-shi plumbing cooperative (telephone 681-6631)" which is business group in Yokohama-shi introduces union members (Yokohama-shi drainage designation construction shop). (Reception hours 8:30-17:00) However, the union will only introduce it. Please consult directly with the designated drainage facility construction shop for consultation on the contents and costs of the construction.
