Two males from ptarmigan entered the park.
A male from Japanese Rock Ptarmigan who entered the park
On February 24, a male from Nihon ptarmigan entered the kingdom of Nasu Animals. This male hatched at Ishikawa Zoo in 2019 and was exhibited last year in the Kingdom of Nasu Animals to convey the current state of ptarmigan and its activities in conservation. Since I've just visited the park, there are some places where I'm a little restless, so I'm starting with getting used to the environment.
By the way, Preservation and Research Center introduced Nihon ptarmigan for the first time in March 2019, but for the past two years we have not been able to reduce the hygiene standards for raising ptarmigan, and we have not been working on breeding. However, this year, we will pair with males who have come to the park and challenge breeding. In addition, the breeding method to be undertaken this year is to develop ptarmigan's technology for returning to the wild.
It has been suggested that it is important to create an environment where mothers can calm down in order to succeed in natural breeding, so we will start preparing little by little so that we can make good reports around September I want to go.

Moving Wrinkled Frog
In Preservation and Research Center, we are working on conservation outside the area of Wrinkled Frog produced in Yokohama since fiscal 2014. Since 2017, breeding under breeding has been successful, and the number has been steadily increasing.
On September 30, six individuals bred in Preservation and Research Center in 2018 were moved to Kanazawa Zoo in the same city for "dangerous dispersion." "Dangerous dispersion" is a common practice in rare species and other countries where breeding populations are distributed at multiple locations to prevent the risk of extinction due to illness or accidents.
On the day, a breeder at Kanazawa Zoo came to the hospital, took over the breeding method, etc., and moved safely.

Holding a science school
Every year, a science school held in summer was held for three days from July 26 to 28 this year, and 30 people participated.
This year, the Science School also conducted experiments to extract the DNA of penguins, introduced the business of Preservation and Research Center and toured animal houses.
"I was excited for the first time that DNA was extracted," "I understood the animals protected in Preservation and Research Center," and "I found that zoos are not only breeding but also breeding."
I hope that this participation will give you more interest in the rare animal conservation.
