About renewal plan
Nogeyama Zoo, which has the longest history of Yokohama City Zoo, has been popular with many generations of citizens.
On the other hand, more than 70 years have passed since the opening of the park, and there are various issues that need to be improved, such as aging facilities, barrier-free measures, and animal breeding environments.
Yokohama City has formulated the Nogeyama Zoo Renewal Plan with the aim of creating a zoo where citizens and animals can spend more comfortably while cherishing the nostalgic atmosphere of Nogeyama Zoo. We are currently renewing Nogeyama Zoo based on this plan.

Perspective of renewal and direction of initiatives
In this renewal, based on "consideration for animal welfare," we have established four perspectives to further enhance its value while taking advantage of the characteristics of Nogeyama Zoo (1) inclusive (2) enhance parent-child enjoyment, (3) enhance contact with animals, 4) and promote various initiatives accordingly.
Perspectives of "Animal Welfare"
We will further enhance our environmental enrichment efforts to bring out the original behavioral characteristics and diversity of domestic animals and improve the welfare and health of animals in future renewals with an emphasis on this perspective.
