About Miyakotanago

Miyako Tanago is a beautiful small fish of freshwater fish belonging to the family Roaceae, about 4 to 5 centimeters in length.
habitat was said to be almost the entire Kanto region, but it is now on the verge of extinction due to the wave of urbanization and was designated as a national natural monument on June 25, 1974.
In May 1976, it was confirmed that it inhabited Gonda Pond in Katsuta-cho, Tsuzuki-ku, and was deposited at the prefectural freshwater fish Proliferation Experiment Station to avoid extinction due to development.
The laboratory succeeded in raising a large amount of fry in the fall of 1985.
Kohoku New Town, where Miyakotanago was found, is close to Jikecho, and it is estimated that many Miyakotanago once inhabited Jikecho.
