Shin-Yokohama Station Northern District Town Development News No. 1

The northern area of Shin-Yokohama Station has reached its 50th anniversary since the completion of the land readjustment project in 1975 (Showa 50).
In the past, several railways have been opened, roads such as Ring Route 2 and infrastructure such as Ekimae Park have been improved, and large-scale customer-acquisition facilities such as Yokohama Arena and Yokohama International Stadium have been located, and offices, hotels, and stores are concentrated. In addition, the city has become a vibrant city due to the diverse and active activities of local residents.
On the other hand, as the social situation surrounding the society is undergoing drastic changes, such as the future population decline, an aging society, and work style reforms following the COVID-19 pandemic, the city is also changing due to the time of rebuilding buildings and other factors.
Therefore, we will distribute "Town Development News" in order to think about future town development with everyone about the future of Shin-Yokohama Station northern district.

We asked Yokohama City to cooperate with Shin-Yokohama Neighborhood Associations, Shin-Yokohama Neighborhood Association, and Adenium Shin-Yokohama Neighborhood Association to hold workshops to consider the future direction of town development in the northern part of Shin-Yokohama Station.

We shared the strengths and weaknesses of the district and discussed future town development.

We shared ideas to improve migration and retention. I would like to introduce some of them.

At the 1st and 2nd workshops, there were many viewpoints of "utilizing the characteristics of each place", so we considered specific zoning. In addition, we discussed catch phrases that represent the future of the town and summarized the workshop.

We will widely share the desire to make the northern part of Shin-Yokohama Station a more attractive city, which was compiled by everyone who participated in this workshop, and the city will also promote more vibrant town development. Therefore, based on the compilation of this workshop, we will proceed with the development of a policy for town development in the northern district of Shin-Yokohama Station.
In order to formulate the plan, we will continue to engage in dialogue with Neighborhood Associations and Neighborhood Association.
