In Yokohama City, the entire city area is a hilly area with a lot of undulating, and at the same time there are many low altitude areas such as landfills, so it is difficult to send water to the entire city at a certain pressure.
For this reason, City of Yokohama, Water Works Bureau supplies water through a distribution block system divided into 25 water supply areas (water distribution blocks) in the city.
Distribution block system
Each distribution block has a distribution reservoir and a pumping station. In addition, in order to use energy efficiently, the water supply area is divided into a natural flow system area (low ward) and a pump system area (high ward) to supply water. . As a result, even in the event of an accident such as a power outage or water pipe rupture, the range of effects such as water outage can be minimized and restored early.
Furthermore, by connecting the water distribution blocks with a large diameter water pipe, we are strengthening our support system so that tap water can be sent from the adjacent water distribution block in the event of an accident such as water outage.
