On May 25, the 53rd Conference of Mayors for Designated City was held in Tokyo, and five requests, proposals, and resolutions were adopted, including the Request for Mayors for COVID-19 infection Measures.
On the same day, the first "Project to Realize Diverse Large City System" was held in 2022, where I am a subleader. Based on the final report of the Mayors' Association of Designated City in November last year, the mayors of 12 designated cities have started new discussions. In the future, this project will accelerate discussions on the direction of specific initiatives for realizing various metropolitan systems, such as the legislation of the special self-government municipal system, which will lead to fostering momentum for the whole country.
