Aoba Ward was born from a part of Kohoku Ward and Midori Ward after the reorganization of administrative districts on November 6, 1994.
It covers an area of 35.06 square kilometers, the second largest city after Totsuka Ward.
It is located in the northwestern part of Yokohama, bordering Tsuzuki Ward to the east, Machida to the west, Midori Ward to the south, and Kawasaki to the north.
In terms of topography, Aoba Ward has many hills, and the Tsurumi River flows through the center of the ward, and the lush landscape with rural scenery spreads along the river.
