Ayumi of Aoba Ward
Last updated on September 26, 2024.
Today's Aoba Ward area is dotted with various archeological sites such as the Asako Terahara site in Yayoi period, the Inari-mae tumulus in Kofun period, and the Ichigao Yokoana tumulus group.
In the Edo era, the area around Eda, where the Oyama Kaido passed as a sideway of the Tokaido, was bustling, but until the period of high growth in the late 1980s, the area was a quiet rural area.
With the opening of the Denentoshi Line in 1966, rapid population growth began, and Midori Ward was born in 1969. At that time, the population of the Aoba area was about 50,000.
In 1986, the northern branch of the Midori Ward Office was opened, and the Aoba Ward was born on November 6, 1994.
