Hen history / origin
A town newly established from each part of Kamiyamotocho and Shimoyamotocho with the enforcement of the land readjustment project in 1971. In the old days, it was Kami-Tanimoto Village and Shitaya Honmura, Tsuzuki-gun. When the municipal system was enacted in 1889, it merged with Teraya Village, Kamoshida Village, Nariai Village, Tetsu Village, Kurosuda Village, Oba Village, Ichigao Village, Kita hassaku Village, Nishi hassaku Village, Koyama Village, Aoto Village and Shimo-Asao Village to become Naka-Satomura Oaza Uetanimoto and Shitaya Hon. Transferred from Midori Ward following the reorganization of administrative districts in 1994. The name of the town was named after the plant.
