The history and origin of the town name / Nariai town
Hen history / origin
A town newly established from Nakasatomura Oaza Nariai, Tsuzuki-gun when transferring to Yokohama City in 1939. In the old days it was Nariai Village, Tsuzuki-gun. When the municipal system was enacted in 1889, it merged with Teraya Village, Kamoshida Village, Kamiya Honmura, Shimoyamotocho Town, Tetsumura, Kurosuda Village, Oba Village, Ichigao Village, Kita hassaku Village, Nishi-hassaku Village, Koyama Village, Aoto Village and Shimo-Asao Village. Transferred from Midori Ward following the reorganization of administrative districts in 1994. The name of the town was the old village. Due to recent land readjustment, the area of the town has been cut down, making it the smallest town in the city.
