Obligation to measure and report water quality

Last updated on November 5, 2024.

1.Obligation to measure water quality (Article 12-12 of the Act (outside site), Ministerial Ordinance Article 15 (outside site), Ordinance Article 11 (outside site), Regulations Article 16 (outside site), Article 16-2 (outside site) (outside site)))

Business establishments that have specific facilities or abatement facilities must measure the water quality in the following ways, record the results, and save them.

(a) The measurement method should be performed according to the measurement method specified in the ministerial ordinance on the certification method of sewage water quality.

(b) For the number of measurements, please perform the number specified in the regulations for each item and the amount of drainage. The number of measurements for each measurement item is as shown in the following table.

(c) Samples for measurement should be taken from the middle part of the water depth at the time when the quality of the sewage to be measured is estimated to be the worst.

(d) Samples should be collected at the outlets and exits of abatement facilities.
(Ministry Ordinance Article 15 No. 4 (External Site), Ordinance Article 11 (External Site))

(o) Please keep the measurement results for 5 years.
※Water quality measurement record table: Emission outlets → Style 13th (word: 25KB), exit of abatement facilities, etc. → No. 11 style (word: 15KB)

2.Duty to report (Article 39-2 of the Act (outside site), ordinance Article 12 (outside site))
The installer of the specific facility and the installer of the abatement facility have a duty to report the necessary limit from Yokohama City to properly manage the sewer. Even if the drainage meets the water quality standards due to the establishment of an abatement facility by a non-specific business establishment, a report based on the ordinance must be made as long as the abatement facility is installed.

Penalties may be applied to those who do not report or make false reports in violation of this provision. (Act Article 49 No. 5 (outside site), Ordinance Article 45 No. 5 (outside site))
