Appropriate storage of used activated carbon (PFOS, etc.)

Last updated on April 1, 2025.

Activated carbon is widely used for water treatment, etc., but if improper management is performed, such as stacking over a long period of time and leaving the outside of the storage container damaged and leaving it in the rain, PFOS etc. adsorbed to activated carbon may elute and cause contamination due to runoff into the environment.
Recently, the Ministry of the Environment has organized points to keep in mind regarding the appropriate management of used activated carbon used for the treatment of water including PFOS, etc., so please read it when using activated carbon for water treatment.
