History of Public Pools

Around Honmoku in 1963

In the past, this area has long been popular with citizens as a beach where swimming and clamming can be performed. However, due to the reclamation of the sea accompanying the construction of an industrial area from the 1950s, the beaches, which are places for citizens to relax, will disappear, and the Honmoku Citizen Pool was constructed in 1969 as an alternative facility to the sea. Was.
After the opening, it seems that about 310,000 people used it a year as an outdoor citizen pool representing Yokohama City.

In addition, except in summer, we plan to remove the temporary pool and carry out various activities utilizing the poolside.

State of local coverage

On the left side of the entrance, there is a spacious changing room for 700 men and women. Of course, shower facilities after use are also provided.
After changing clothes, enter the facility from the entrance at the back of the entrance.

The main running water pool

The main running water pool is a huge pool with a depth of about 1m located in the center of the site. The entire site is not only unified with the image of a sandy beach, but it is also painted with heat shield so that it does not get hot even if you walk barefoot, so that you can enjoy it comfortably.

"Nagisa Pool" inspired by the former beach

The running water pool has a beach-like approach (nagisa pool) that resembles a former beach based on the history of the Honmoku area. The waves from the running water pool reach the Nagisa pool, and you can feel the movement of the waves just like the seaside. The running water pool has a depth of about 1m, but the beach pool is designed shallow so that children can enjoy it.

It can be used throughout the year, such as outdoor experience.

On the premises, there is a space where you can enjoy barbecue and camping, and you can enjoy it together with the pool. In addition, even during the season when the pool is not used, you can experience activities that make use of the waterside, such as kayaking and sap, and use the facilities with family and friends throughout the year.
