FY2019 Yokohama Foreign Awareness Survey Results

As the foreign population in Yokohama City exceeded 100,000 at the end of April 2019 and is expected to increase further, we will grasp the living consciousness and needs of foreigners living in the city and provide basic information for municipal administration and policy planning. We carried out "Yokohama-shi foreign awareness investigation" for the purpose of utilizing it as material.
The survey was conducted by mail, targeting 5,000 foreigners living in the city aged 20 and over, randomly selected from the Basic Resident Register, and 1,764 responses (recovery rate 35.3%) were obtained. .
According to the survey results, more than 60% of respondents answered that they were satisfied with their current lives, and more than 70% were willing to participate in local activities. 30%, of which 90% were willing to learn Japanese.
In the future, in addition to enhancing information provision and consultation services in multiple languages, we will further promote the acceptance and coexistence of foreign human resources by focusing on supporting the active participation of foreigners in the region and supporting Japanese language acquisition.
