-Domestic trade surpasses pre-COVID-19 pandemic, contributing to the recovery of port conditions -

Ports at Yokohama Port in the first half of 2022 were 53.37 million tons, up 3.0% from the same period of the previous year due to the prolonged expansion of COVID-19 infection, Russia's invasion of Ukraine this year, and the lockdown in Shanghai. Container cargo volume also increased 2.1% year-on-year to 20.77 million tons, approaching pre-COVID-19 levels.
In particular, in domestic trade, container cargo volume increased by 31.6% year-on-year, exceeding the pre-COVID-19 pandemic. This is thought to have had a certain effect on measures to strengthen international feeders through coastal containerships, an initiative to promote international container strategic ports.
