Friendship exchange with Showa Village
Showa-mura is a village spread at the foot of Akagi in Gunma Prefecture, and is known as a production area for konjac potatoes, which boast the highest production volume in Japan, as well as plateau vegetables such as lettuce and spinach. The relationship between Yokohama City and Showa Village has been as follows since Yokohama City opened "Yokohama City Shonen Nature House Akagi Rinkan Gakuen" (formerly "Yokohama City Mount Akagi Citizen Outdoor Activity Center") in 1972. Exchanges centered on children continue. In 2013, based on the bonds of exchange up to that point, Yokohama City and Showa Village have signed an agreement on friendship and exchange and are promoting exchanges. .
