Designated City Mayors' Association

 Twenty designated cities nationwide, including Yokohama City, have formed the “Designated City Mayors' Association” with the aim of promoting smooth promotion and growth of large city administrative and financial activities, and are working together on various activities in close cooperation.

 2003 (designated city joint activities started in 1948)

Main activities

  • Deliver the voice of designated cities (such as requests for national budgets and requests for expansion of capital city tax resources).
  • Holding various meetings, coordinating with the government, etc. (holding of designated city mayor meetings, round-table meetings with the Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications, etc.).≫
  • Promotion of Decentralization and Investigation and Research on Metropolitan System
  • Public Relations and Awareness Activities
  • Response to Disasters
