School zone

The school zone is a method in which elementary schools are regarded as the core of local traffic safety activities in order to protect children from traffic accidents, and local residents and administrative organizations work together to create a safe city and environment. .

Scope of school zone

In general, a radius of approximately 500 meters, including school roads, is set as a school zone, mainly in elementary schools, but depending on the actual conditions of children's residence, traffic volume, traffic accidents, local conditions, etc. You can also target a range of 500 meters or more.

School zone countermeasures council

Each school consists of schools, PTAs, Neighborhood Association Neighborhood Associations, and administrative agencies. We will check danger spot, signs, guardrails, roads, etc. in the school zone, provide traffic safety guidance when going to and from school, and discuss traffic safety issues and issues.

Administrative agencies such as police department, Public Works Office and ward offices will implement necessary measures based on the following criteria:

Hodogaya Ward School Zone Promotion Organization Grant

An organization formed to prevent traffic accidents in the Hodogaya Ward School Zone and is composed of representatives from local PTA, Neighborhood Associations, women's associations, youth groups, etc. Subsidize some of the expenses necessary for group activities. The maximum amount of the grant is 20,000 yen per year, and the submitted documents will be examined to determine the amount of the grant.
