Mr. Shunji Karube
Born in Minami-ku, Yokohama. Participated in the 400m hurdle at the Atlanta Olympics in 1996, finished fifth in the 4x400m relay. In 1997, he established an Asian indoor record at the time at the Paris World Indoor Championship 400m, and became the first Japanese medalist in the World Indoor Championship individual event. Participated in the 2000 Sydney Olympics 4x400m relay, former 400m hurdle Japanese record holder. Currently, he is a professor at the Faculty of Sports and Health at Hosei University and is in charge of relay strategy at the Japan Association of Athletic Federations.
