World Heritage Candidate Shomei-ji Temple, Choinagiri-dori
Last updated on August 1, 2024.
In Yokohama City, together with Kanagawa Prefecture, Kamakura City and Zushi City, we have been preparing for the registration of the World Heritage registration candidate "Kamakura, the ancient capital of samurai", but in response to the disappointing result, the four prefectures and the country decided to withdraw the recommendation and aim for re-recommendation.
I think this recommendation has brought great surprise and disappointment to the people concerned who have been preparing for the registration of World Heritage for many years and the inhabitants of the ward who have understood and cooperated.
However, Shomei-ji Temple and Choinagiri-dori are still valuable historical assets. In addition, there are many valuable historical assets in Kanazawa Ward, not limited to Shomei-ji and Choinagiri-dori. We will continue our efforts in Kanazawa Ward to ensure that valuable historical assets are preserved for future generations, and to enhance the pride of residents and attachment to Kanazawa Ward.

Access to Historic Sites
There is no parking lot, so please use public transportation.
Choina Kiridori is a hiking course that takes about 40 to 50 minutes from Kanazawa Ward to Kamakura City, but please note that there are no toilets.
The area around Shomeiji is a residential area. I would like action that adheres to manners so as not to throw away garbage.
