Eight Views of Kanazawa, drawn by Hiroshige Utagawa

Last updated on June 14, 2022.

Shinetsuzenshi, a Chinese monk who stopped in Kanazawa in 1694, praised the scenery from Nomi-do (now Nokendai) just like the eight views of the hometown of China's Shosho. For this reason, it was named Kanazawa Hakkei and became the station name. It is a superb view drawn by Hiroshige Utagawa, a ukiyo-e artist from late Tokugawa shogunate.
