What is the Yokohama Cultural Fund?
The Yokohama Cultural Fund, one of Yokohama's hometown tax payments, was established in 1981 to construct museums and other cultural facilities and to purchase works stored in Yokohama Museum of Art. The artworks collected by the Cultural Fund have totaled 5,376 works, including Cezanne's "Mrs. Cezanne wearing striped clothes" and Dali's "geographic portrait of Gala", and in recent years, Yoshitomo Nara's "Spring Girl" We continue to collect such things.
(As of March 31, 2024, Yokohama Museum of Art's art collections totaled 15,265 items, including 5,376 items purchased and 9,889 items donated.)
