What is influenza?
It is a disease caused by infection with the influenza virus (mainly type A and B). Symptoms such as fever, headache, general malaise, muscle pain and joint pain suddenly appear, followed by symptoms such as sore throat, runny nose, and cough.
In Japan, the season is usually from December to March.
Acute encephalopathy is rare in children, and severe in the elderly and those with reduced immunity can be accompanied by pneumonia.
Main symptoms
- Sudden fever, headache, muscle pain, joint pain, general malaise
- Cough, runny nose, sore throat
Watch your child carefully as it can cause convulsions, abnormal behaviors, and abnormal behaviors.
Period until symptoms appear
About 1 to 3 days after infection, symptoms such as fever, headache, cough, joint pain and muscle pain appear.
Route of infection
- It is transmitted by inhaling splashes contained in sneezing or coughing containing the virus (flying infection).
- It is transmitted by touching the mouth and eyes with a hand with the virus (contact infection).

Frequent hand washing
- After going out, wash your hands with running water and soap. Wash your hands immediately if you have runny nose or sputum on your palms.
- After washing your hands, rinse thoroughly with water and wipe your fingers with a clean towel or paper towel.
- Hand disinfection with alcohol is also effective.

Cough etiquette
- When coughing or sneezing, cover your nose and mouth with a mask or tissue.
- Wash your hands immediately if you have runny nose or sputum on your palms.

- Keep the right humidity (50% to 60%).
- Make sure you have enough rest and a balanced diet.

Prevention of infection in the facility
Hand hygiene (hand washing with soap and hand disinfection)
- Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and running water before working or eating.
- Foam the soap thoroughly to wash your fingers and to wash between your nails.
- After lathering with running water, wipe your fingers thoroughly with a clean towel or paper towel. Avoid sharing towels.

- Hand sanitize with alcohol before and after care and treatment.
Ventilation
- Open two doors and windows on diagonal lines to provide ventilation.
- If there is only one window, open the door of the room and place a fan or the like outside the window.
Environmental disinfection
Disinfect places that people often touch with with 0.02% sodium hypochlorite or more than 70% alcohol.
Response to infected person
- Replace protective equipment (*) for each care or treatment of infected person.
※Use masks, gloves, gowns, and aprons, and use infection protective equipment such as eye protective equipment when necessary.
- Be careful not to touch the surface of the contaminated protective equipment, as it can also be infected with the virus when undressing contaminated protective equipment. After undressing, hand hygiene (hand washing with soap and hand disinfection) is performed.
