・Application for junior high and high school departments requires the consent of the principal. You will not be able to participate without your consent.

The first tournament was held in 1986 in response to the voices of residents who had an attachment to the Tsunashima Ekiden Race in the Showa 20s. .

From the course running along the Tsurumi River to the Shin-Yokohama Park circuit course and the Nissan Stadium circuit course.

The number has increased from 67 teams (453) in 5 parts of the first tournament.
Although the number of participants decreased due to the division with Tsuzuki Ward   in 1994, the scale of the tournament has increased in recent years.
The 34th competition, which was held to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Kohoku Ward System, received 233 teams (1,368 people) and became a major sporting event in Kohoku Ward.

Since the first tournament, the Kohoku Ward Athletics Association and the Kohoku Ward Sports Promotion Committee Liaison Council Ekiden Committee have been involved in the planning and operation of the tournament.
Although it was hit, since 2003, local group officials with both pillars have set up the Kohoku Ekiden Tournament Executive Committee.
This tournament, where residents can interact and raise their hometown awareness through Ekiden, is popular among residents as a winter tradition of "Genki Kohoku Ward".
