What is the Medical System for Elderly Seniors?

Medical insurance for those aged 75 and over, and when they reach their 75th birthday, they will move from the medical insurance they had enrolled to to the medical system for the elderly.
The operation will be carried out in cooperation with the Regional Elderly Medical Care Wide Area Alliance (hereinafter referred to as the “wide area alliance”) established in each prefecture and municipalities. . The Regional Coalition mainly operates the system, and municipalities mainly perform window operations.
This system is designed to support society as a whole. Of the medical expenses, the remaining expenses, excluding co-payments paid at medical institutions, are about 50% of taxes (public expenses: borne by the national, prefectural and municipal governments), and about 40% of support from active generations and about 10% of insured persons under the Medical System for Elderly Senior Citizens pay insurance premiums.
