Performing "part of the affairs related to recruitment of SDF and SDF candidates" is stipulated in Article 97, Paragraph 1 of the Self-Defense Forces Act as affairs of prefectural governors and mayors of municipalities, and as statutory entrusted affairs from the government Have been implemented. In response to a request from the Minister of Defense based on Article 120 of the Enforcement Order of the Self-Defense Forces Act, we provide the SDF Kanagawa Regional Cooperation Headquarters with information necessary for recruiting SDF personnel and SDF candidates (postcode, Address and name of those who are eligible for recruitment with resident registration in Yokohama City).

From Monday, March 24, 2025 to Friday, May 23, we will accept applications for exclusion requests.
※Applicable to Japanese nationals who are registered as residents of Yokohama City, those who are 18 years old or 22 years old from April 2, 2025 to April 1, 2026.

If you do not wish to provide information to the SDF, you will be excluded from the information provided to the SDF by requesting it.

Applicable to Japanese nationals who are registered as residents of Yokohama City and who fall under the following.
・Those who are 18 years old from April 2, 2025 to April 1, 2026 (those born between April 2, 2029 and April 1, 2020)
・Those who turn 22 from April 2, 2025 to April 1, 2026 (those born between April 2, 2025 and April 1, 2026)

From Monday, March 24, 2025 to Friday, May 23 (in the case of mail, postmark is valid on the day)

After accepting the request for exclusion, Yokohama City will send a document to the target person (in the case of application by proxy/agent, to proxy/agent) after the end of the application period.

The basis for providing information is to provide information on recruiting SDF and SDF candidates from the Minister of Defense based on the provisions of Article 97, Paragraph 1 of the Self-Defense Forces Act and Article 120 of the SDF Law Enforcement Order. Request.

The prefectural governors and mayors of municipalities shall perform part of the affairs related to the recruitment of SDF and SDF candidates, as provided for by a Cabinet Order.

When the Minister of Defense finds it necessary to recruit SDF or SDF candidates, he / she may request the prefectural governor or the mayor of a municipality to submit necessary reports or materials.

Article 69, Paragraph 1 of the Personal Information Protection Law stipulates that personal information must not be provided for any purpose other than the purpose of use, except as required by law, but recruitment of SDF and SDF candidates The provision of necessary recruitment information is provided in accordance with laws and regulations (Article 120 of the SDF Law Enforcement Order). The government has indicated that Article 120 of the SDF Law Enforcement Order falls under the laws and regulations of Article 69, Paragraph 1 of the Personal Information Protection Law.

The head of administrative organs, etc. shall not use or provide the retained personal information for any purpose other than the purpose of use, except as required by law.

At the request of the SDF Kanagawa Regional Cooperation Headquarters, the information of the target person (Address, name, postal code) is provided using an address sticker printed on it.
The information provided will only be used to send (once) recruitment information from the SDF.

Until 2020, information was provided by the SDF in response to requests for viewing the Basic Resident Register under Article 11, Paragraph 1 of the the Law of the Basic Resident Registers.
In a notice to the municipalities jointly named by the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications in February 2021, "The use of a copy of the Basic Resident Register as necessary materials for the recruitment of these provisions will not cause any special problems in the the Law of the Basic Resident Registers."
