[Overview]
◇Location: 212-1, Kanazawacho, Kanazawa-ku, Yokohama-shi and others
◇History of Designation of Historic Sites
【1】 October 12, 1922 (1922) Area 63,956 square meters
Name: "Shoumei-jinaikai, Kanazawa's Tomb and Kaizan Kaikai no daimyo"
Reason: The buildings at that time were all attributed to the degeneration, but the earthworks, earthworks, culverts, garden ponds, etc. remain, and the traces of the Ritsu sect temple connection in Japan are the best preserved. In addition, the actual Kanazawa clan in the temple area outside the boundary, and the Five-ringed pagoda or the treasure enclosure tower of the people below the sea in Kaizan are enough to see the grave system at that time.
【2】 January 31, 1972 (1972) Area 91,289 square meters
Name: "Shomei-ji precincts" (changed)
Reason: The designation at the time of 1922 was specified in 1323 (1323) "Shomeiji pictorial map parallel boundary record" (Shomeiji kura, important cultural property). The original grounds were larger than this, and the surrounding mountain areas and the subordinate Zen Temple area from the main gate to Nio-mon gate were additionally designated, and the name was changed to the temple grounds.
◇Designation of management organization
December 23, 1923 (1923) Kanazawa-mura, Kuraki-gun, Kanagawa Prefecture
October 1, 1936 (1936) Yokohama City (Kanasawamura was transferred to Yokohama City)
August 29, 1950 (1950) Yokohama City (continuation designation by new law)
[Explanation]
Shomei-ji Temple is a famous temple of Kintaku. Shingon Ritsumune, Begashi Motoyama. It is the Bodaiji Temple of Mr. Hojo, Kanazawa. The year of the establishment of Shomei-ji Temple is not clear, but it is said that Sanetoki Hojo (1224-1276) developed from the Jibutsudo, which enshrines Amida Sanson, in the residence of Rokuura-so. In fact, there is a record that he received a ceremony for irrigation at the Jibutsudo in 1258 (1258), and the Shomeiji Temple was built around 1259 (1259). In fact, he was the grandson of Yoshitoki Hojo, the second generation of Kamakura shogunate, who served in the shogunate, including incumbents and appraisers, and supported the Hojo Tokumune family politically. In fact, he relied on Eison of Nara Saidaiji Temple, changed Shomei-ji Temple from the previous Nenbutsu sect to Shingon Ritsu sect, and welcomed Shinkai Shonin (1232-1304) of Yakushi-ji Temple in Shimonokuni. Was. Akitoki (1248-1301) donated land inside and outside the temple and built the statue of Maitreya Bodhisattva in main deity, and Sadaaki (1278-1333) rebuilt the temple complex to expand and develop the temple. In 1323 (1323), the Shomeiji pictorial map surrounds the central garden pond and features Shichido garan such as Kondo, auditorium, bell tower and Nio-mon gate. In particular, the style from Nio-mon gate in the south to Kondo by dividing the pond into east and west, crossing the bridge, Nakajima and Taira Bridge, is considered valuable as the last example of a Pure Land style garden that has been actively built since the middle of Heian.
After the death of Hojo in 1333 (1333), he was protected by the powers of Emperor Go-Daigo, Kokata Kamakura, Hideyoshi Toyotomi and Ieyasu Tokugawa, but the luck of the temple did not recover and declined significantly during the Edo period.
Excavation and preservation and maintenance projects for Shomeiji Gardens and Enikes were conducted for 10 years from 1978 (1978), Taira Bridge was restored in 1985 and Soribashi in 1961 based on the "Shomeiji Picture Map". The garden was restored and maintained over the following year. However, due to the deterioration and decay of the bridge due to the effects of the subsequent wind and rain, Taira Bridge was replaced in 2007 and anti-bridge in 2007.
