Reservation service
If the book you want is not on the bookshelf, please use the reservation service.
Other books in City Library can be ordered and borrowed.
You can apply for reservations up to 6 books per person.
Books not held in City Library can also be ordered from public libraries in Kanagawa Prefecture (mutual loan within the prefecture).

From the Yokohama City Library online catalog page (outside site) or the user search machine in the building
You need to register your password in advance.

By telephone or at the counter
During the opening hours, it is also accepted by telephone or at the counter.
When you apply by phone, we will ask you for your library card number and name, Address, Phone number, or date of birth to confirm your identity.
When applying at the counter, fill out the reservation application form in the library and take it out with the library card.

How to check the book reserved
If you have registered your e-mail address, we will contact you by e-mail when the reserved book is ready.
If you are not, please check if you have prepared your own reservation book by the following method.
- Internet: You can check it by logging in from the online catalog page. Please register your password in advance.
- Search machine for users in the building: You need a password when using the Internet reservation.
- Phone: Information dial 045-262-0040
- Library window: Please present your library card.
Points to note when making a reservation
- Books that have not yet been published (including magazines) cannot be booked.
- Books that cannot be found in online catalog can be booked at the City Library window. Please submit the "Reservation Application Form" to the library window. You can apply by phone.
- The latest issue of the magazine can be booked from 9:30 on the reservation start date. The reservation start date is the day before the "rental start date" written on the barcode of the magazine. When searching on the Internet, the reservation start date will be displayed in the material details column of the relevant issue.
- Depending on the status of the book you booked, the time required to prepare will vary. Please be sure to make sure that you are ready before visiting.
- The expiration date for books that have been borrowed is 7 days after the day after the reservation notification date from the library (if you choose not to contact, the date when the loan is ready). It will be canceled (cancelled) after the expiration date. Please check the reservation status on a regular basis. If you no longer need the book, please contact the receiving library. We ask for your cooperation in providing efficient books.
- If you cannot return the borrowed book for a long time, you may not be able to borrow and apply for reservations.
About order of document from prefecture public libraries (mutual loan in the prefecture)
Books that are not owned by Yokohama City Library can be borrowed from public libraries in Kanagawa Prefecture, etc.
In addition, when the reserved materials of Yokohama City Library cannot be provided, we may order materials by mutual loan within the prefecture.
Applications can be made by electronic application, City Library window or telephone.
In addition, there are the following conditions for the use of mutual loan in the prefecture.
Conditions of use
- The number of books that can be applied is within the range of the number of reserved books (6 books).
- You can receive the application materials only at the library you are applying for. After applying, it is not possible to change the library where you receive the materials.
- It cannot be borrowed at the library agency, mobile library, etc.
- Materials borrowed from prefecture public libraries need to be returned at the same library window as lending.
- We cannot specify prefecture public libraries of order. If there is a collection at multiple prefectural public libraries, etc., we may order from a library other than the one you have filled out.
Notes
- If you have a collection in Yokohama City Library, you cannot order it.
- Even if the borrower is in stock, it will take some time before it can be prepared.
- Depending on the borrower's conditions, such as non-lending and new publications within 3 months of publication, we may not be able to accept them.
- Materials borrowed from the prefecture cannot be extended.
