Whaling

The U.S. whaling industry began at the beginning of the 18th century, and reached its peak in the 19th century and a half. Was. The main purpose of the U.S. whaling industry was to produce whale oil (geiyu) (oil made from whales), so kerosene (toyu) and mechanical oil (Kika oil) was indispensable to the American industry. However, due to the full-scale operation of the oil industry in the latter half of the 19th century (Seiki), it declined rapidly (Kyusoku).
