Started activities in 2010.
Currently, about 20 people are registered as volunteers.

We will visit each library at a convenient time and repair books in the volunteer office in Chuo-toshokan.

About the activities of volunteers for book repair

We are repairing damaged parts of the materials held in Chuo-toshokan.
With simple repairs, more than 10 books can be completed a day. If it's a complicated repair, it will take many days to repair it. There are more than 400 books in need of repair a month, and many books have been reborn and used again by repair volunteers.

Examples of Major Repairs

  • A book whose page is torn
  • Repair with special tape for repair.
  • A book with a lot of pages missing
  • Remove the cover once, sew the body with thread, solidify it with a bond, and bind it.
  • Books with cellophane tape or stickers
  • Use a seal peel to remove the book carefully so that it does not damage it.
  • A book whose cover is broken
  • Reinforce with transparent film. I sometimes apply film to the whole book.
