Overview
Background and Purpose
The average temperature in Yokohama is on the rise due to global warming and the heat island phenomenon.
In recent years, the heat has been hit by intense heat in summer, and the impact on health hazards such as heat stroke has become more serious.
Since it is necessary to promote measures against heat in order to adapt to the effects of climate change, the Institute for Environmental Science conducts temperature observations in the city and thermal environment surveys.
What is the Heat Island phenomenon?
The heat island phenomenon is a phenomenon in which the temperature in urban areas is higher than in the suburbs.
For more information, see the BatteryChart documentation page.
Temperature Observation in the City
We conduct temperature observations at several elementary schools in the city to understand the heat situation in the city, which has become hot due to global warming and heat island phenomena.

Heat Environment Survey
In order to understand the current heat environment and create a comfortable space for citizens to adapt to heat, we have introduced a survey of the actual conditions of heat in urban areas where many people gather, and introduced measures before and after the introduction of heat measures. We verify the effects of heat mitigation by comparing places that are not places.
