2024 "Summer Vacation Parent-Child Sewer Class"

　In Nambu Wastewater Treatment Plant, we held a tour of the Nambu Wastewater Treatment Plant and Yokohama Zoo ZOORASIA to help parents and children deepen their understanding of sewerage and environmental knowledge.

• Date and time: Thursday, July 25, 2024 from 9:30 to 12:30 (ZOORASIA local dissolution, free tour)
• Number of participants: 32 (14 adults, 18 elementary school students, 0 preschoolers)
• Participation fee: Free of charge
• Conditions for participation: Elementary school students and their families living or studying in Yokohama City (elementary school students are not allowed only)

　The day was blessed with good weather and cheerful children and their families. In sewer classroom, we had you deepen understanding about structure and role of sewer through facility explanation and facility tour.
　In addition, they looked at the state of the water in each process that was actually sampled, and observed the microorganisms that are active in water treatment with a microscope.

　During the tour of the water treatment facility, we saw how the water was actually cleaned at the Water Reclamation Center and how the water was returned naturally.

　After that, we moved by bus and had a free tour of the Yokohama Zoo ZOORASIA.
In this sewer classroom, we think that we were able to deepen understanding about sewer of Yokohama-shi while having fun with parent and child.
　In addition, we hope that this summer vacation parent and child sewer classroom will help the family enjoy the summer vacation and help the free study of summer vacation.
　This sewer class is held every year during the summer vacation of elementary school. We look forward to your participation again next year.
