Utilization of Public Space
Public spaces such as roads, parks, and harbor green spaces, in addition to their original functions, make it easier to use the place to relax, enjoy, and relax. We will adjust from the design stage so that it is easy to use according to the characteristics of each place. In addition, even after maintenance, through social experiments, etc., we will consider the creation of a mechanism for utilization with local people to form an attractive space.

Nihon Odori Avenue
In the redevelopment of the sidewalk in 2002, the symbol of ginkgo trees stands out and is designed as a fun tree-lined road in harmony with the Historic buildings along the road.
On the widened sidewalks, we are working with local organizations to create an open cafe, creating a lively atmosphere in Nihon Odori Avenue.

The site of the abandoned Toyoko Line promenade
The site of the Toukyu Toyoko Line abandoned line (between Yokohama Station and Sakuragicho Station) is being developed and operated as a pedestrian-only road. On July 16, 2019, for the first time, maintenance of the elevated part (around Sakuragicho Station West Exit Square-Momijizaka Intersection) was completed and put into service.
The area is a promenade connecting stations, and is located between the Minato Mirai area and the Noge / Tobe area, sandwiched between different unique towns, and has the potential to create an attractive space unique to you.
Aiming at a new attractive pedestrian space in the city, experimental events will be held mainly in the service part in order to arrange necessary conditions and issue utilization entities for future utilization and maintenance of undeveloped sections. We will conduct several times and reflect it in the examination of utilization plans including undeveloped sections.
Roads around Minato Odori Avenue and Yokohama Culture Gymnasium
Kannai and Kangai-District are expected to continue to establish large-scale facilities for the realization of "international industry-academia collaboration" and "tourism and attracting customers".
On the roads around Minato Odori Avenue and Yokohama Culture Gymnasium, which runs through Kannai and Kangai-District, we will narrow down the number of roadways, expand the space for pedestrians and self-turn vehicles, and redevelop existing road spaces based on roadside use to strengthen and expand the network of safe, lively and comfortable walkers.
In addition, during maintenance, we will also consider the utilization of the widened sidewalk space while conducting social experiments.
